Refrigerator water filter

I have never wanted to install Refrigerator water filter at the house but my friend Vivian convinced me to have filter in my refrigerator. She said that would I prefer to use my kidney as filter? It is because even though we could say our water system is clean we cannot be sure if the water that reaches our house is still clean. It may not be that clean anymore, what with dirty pipes or the pipe gets rusty or backflow from other consumers.
